One of my favourite to-go places for French food, La Petite Cuisine has been around for at least 10 over years. The restaurant serves food at affordable and comfortable prices with good quality of fresh products. The concept is causal dinning where families and friends can gather for a hearty simple meals.

The menu is pretty simple- appetizers, mains, desserts and help yourself can-drinks. We were there for the main course only. Of course the signature dish has to be the duck confit. Whenever I’m here, I would always order the duck confit and have rarely tried the other dishes on the menu. My friend, who preferred salmon, ordered the grilled salmon served with rice. Although the salmon looked overcooked in the picture, it was actually nicely done on the inside with a nice orangey hue. The rice was fragrant and tasty and paired well with the cream sauce.

As for the duck confit dish, they used to serve the potato gratin on the side with the duck, but this time round it was served as a separate side dish. After the crispy duck skin was revealed, you reach the tender flesh that has been well-marinated, not overly dry at some other places that I have tried. The creamy potato gratin was also very good as a pairing. I wished that they gave more potato gratin. This dish is a must try here.

If you are looking for some desserts, do try the chocolate tarts. Apparently, La Petite Cuisine even has an in house patissier who flew in all the way from France.
