Tucked away in a quiet corner at Wisteria Mall, this cafe came out in our search list on Eatigo when we were looking for places to eat around Yishun. We had been to Northpoint quite a couple of times so visiting Wisteria was a nice change, as we can avoid the lunchtime crowds.
The cafe is located on the outside of the mall facing the main road. It has an open-kitchen concept where you can observe the chefs preparing your dishes.
We ordered the signature Wild Wood Classic ($13.80) and the Wild Rosey ($15.80), as well as truffle fries ($8.80) for sharing.
For appetisers, we had truffle fries. It had some truffle oil sprinkled on top and some grated cheese. As usual, I feel that it is not worth to order fries as an appetiser at a cafe as it is so easy to prepare. But I relented as my friends wanted it for sharing. The fries were too thickly cut for my liking.
The Wild Wood Classic is part of the all-day breakfast. It comes with a huge piece of boneless fried chicken, with brioche toast, salad and eggs. For the eggs, we could choose among poached, scrambled or sunny side up.
Despite the chicken being fried, it still maintained its tender meat and succulence. The poached eggs were done just right with some hollandaise sauce on the top. It was really filling for one person.
For me, I chose the Wild Rosey which has grilled brioche bun with chef creation soya sauce chicken served with mixed salad and french fries. The buns were soft and delicious, and the soya sauce marinade was not too salty. The cheese tasted quite rubbery though. I enjoyed this dish as I did not want to indulge in fried food. The serving of fries was alot and I did not finish them. I would have preferred thinner fries instead.
The cafe was quite empty as we went on a weekday lunch. Other than our group, there was another table occupied. However, if you go during weekends, be prepared to wait as tables get filled up quickly. Based on reviews on Eatigo, even though you reserved online at a specific timing, the cafe does not reserve the seats for you as they also open up to walk-in diners based on a first come first serve basis.
Overall, service at the cafe was brisk. They did top up our glasses of water only when asked. The food portions are huge, so it is possible to share with another person and order desserts. However, there is not much variety on the menu, as most of the dishes come with their signature fried chicken. The prices are reasonable and there is also Eatigo discount depending on the timing. If you are around Yishun area and looking for cafe food, do check out Wild Wood!
