daikokliya ramen

Today, I met nic for lunch after my tuition. We met at raffles city and walked around the area since we were not that hungry. we walked from raffles city to marina square and suntec city. many things have changed since I last visited these shopping centres, basically more food outlets have sprung up. eating is indeed the passion of Singaporeans and we can’t live without food. just like today, Gordon Ramsay had a food challenge with Singaporean hawker heroes where he will cook chicken rice, katong laksa and chilli crab. there will be 1000 free tickets distributed to people who can sample the food and vote for the winner. this event will be held at newton food circus and I foresee alot of people turning up.

oh and I want to mention that suntec convention centre has undergone such a drastic change, it looks so different now. but basically it is occupied by the city harvest church, freaking rich church which collects like 10% of the salary of churchgoers, no wonder they can afford to upgrade their worship area and even build a play area for the children! there were many youth walking in and out of the building when we went.
for lunch, we walked back to raffles city and tried Daikokliya ramen, located at basement one. I ordered shouyu chashu ramen while nic had the spicy chashu ramen. I found the ramen to be average and the chashu meat was quite tough. the broth was average, mine felt like I was drinking soya sauce, but not too salty. I think my favourite ramen shop is still ippudo. the other one at level one of raffles city with free upsize of ramen noodles up to 5x is not bad as well.

after lunch we went to funan mall where nic was checking out earphones. he was searching for a particular vmoda brand which was not very common. he was so excited when he finally found one shop that sold it, he managed to bargain for 20% off, saving almost $40 and he happily bought it.
