Rollie Olie is a new Japanese restaurant located at Star Vista shopping centre. They have a daily set lunch which includes a half-roll, miso soup and salad. Rolled with the freshest ingredients, their made-to-order sushi rolls and other fun creations will tantalise your taste buds. They have a wide variety of sushi flavours in unique flavours, such as Kpop (contains kimchi), Bollywood (contains curry prawns), Caterpillar (crab meat and avocado). With such eye-catching names for the sushi rolls, it makes you want to try everything.
set meal of the day – Bollywood sushi roll with salad and soup
Since the set lunch of the day was either Go Green (vegetarian) or Bollywood, I decided to go ahead with the latter. There was curry prawn, avocado, cucumber and the top was garnished with tempura crunch. I like the presentation of the sushi rolls in a box with the salad. The salad dressing was delicious and went well with the food. We also enjoyed trying out the different kinds of sauces that they had, such as wasabi mayo, spicy mayo, yuzu mustard. All of them tasted good and went well with the sushi rolls. The miso soup that accompanied the set meal was also thick and tasty. There were onion bits inside the soup and the miso paste gave it a rich flavour without being overly salty (like those you get at the food court when you order Japanese food). My friend ordered the K pop roll which contains kimchi, spicy crab meat, avocado and cucumber. There were 8 pieces instead of 4 pieces for the full roll and this one came in a cardboard box suitable for takeaway. It was also delicious.
The restaurant does not have many tables, so me and my friends had to sit at the bartop counter in one row, which made it difficult to talk. It is a small place and sushi is quite easy to eat, so most people eat and go. It has a nice ambience with glass windows offering a view of the MRT tracks. Overall, I recommend this place for their funky sushi creation and their sauces!
