Is the new lounge at Cebu airport terminal 2 worth my time?

Let’s find out more with this review.

Location: Airside – International Departures. After Immigration, take the lift opposite gate 20 to level 1 where the lounge is located.

Being at Cebu Mactan International airport with its newly opened Terminal 2 building, I finally got to try the Plaza Premium Lounge. We checked in for our flight around 5.30pm and had 2 hours to spare before boarding time. We had just took a domestic flight from Siargao and needed a rest at the lounge where we could wash up, so that once we reach home, we can go straight to bed.

In terms of shower facilities, the staff told us to write down our names on the waiting list and they would call our names once the shower is ready. There were two shower rooms but one was out of order, hence the slightly longer wait.

The lounge was quite empty when we entered, but it soon became more crowded after 6pm as people started to arrive and have their dinner.

The food at the lounge was decent. They served Filippino staples such as braised pork, roast chicken, stir fried vermicelli and purple glutinous rice for dessert. We enjoyed the noodle station also with rice noodles in broth, except that there were no ingredients in the noodle soup. The chicken was very tasty such that we had second servings.

For families with kids, there is even a play area with transparent doors so that adults can keep watch on their kids while they have their dinner in peace.

The lounge had a minimalist design, with mostly scandinavian wood to complement the overall look of the airport terminal. The high chairs had charging points in the middle for travelers to charge their devices. However, the sofa seats did not have any charging point so we had to use the long table.

Over at the drinks section, there was red and white wine from Australia, local beer and some fruit juices. This section is not self-service, so there is someone pouring the alcohol for you. They may deem that you had too much to drink and refuse to serve you. There was no hard liquor, while the juices available were calamansi and orange.

Away from the food section, there were more seats overlooking the aerobridges and you can have a view of the planes taking off.

After eating and drinking to our heart’s content at the lounge, we went out and walked towards the boarding gate. At the level 1 area. the opposite end of the floor is the Mabuhay lounge, reserved for Philippine airlines customers. I have yet to try their lounge because it is not available with the Priority Pass.

While walking towards our gate, we saw this lechon restaurant selling the famous roast pig from Cebu. It is such a huge pig and it looks like it can feed more than 30 people.

Overall, it was a good experience at Cebu International Airport Plaza Premium lounge. The staff were courteous and acceded to our request. They cleaned up the bathroom after our shower so that it would look presentable to the next guest and replenished the toiletries. The food was great as well, judging by the number of servings we took. One thing to note is that the alcohol selection is not so wide.
