M Social Singapore
Address: 3 Nanson Road, Singapore 238910
Thanks to Amex cards, I managed to get a one night complimentary stay at M Social Singapore with purchase of one night stay.
M Social is a contemporary lifestyle hotel along the stunning and historic Singapore River created for the adventurers, the explorers and those who live for new experiences. Yes, there are the standard things you expect from a hotel – free Wi-Fi, crisp sheets and amazing views – but it also offers a place to let your creative self run wild. Choose from 293 eclectic rooms designed by renowned interior designer Philippe Starck. Plus, there’s Beast & Butterflies, M Social’s signature restaurant, which offers some of the best fusion cuisine in town.
They offer five room types: Loft terrace room, Loft premier room, Loft gallery room, Alcove terrace room and Alcove cosy room. Each comes with a different design and the layout of the room to suit various tastes. Take a close look at the pictures on their website and decide which type of room would suit you.
We chose the loft style because it is not common to have such a layout, so the first storey has the bathroom, toilet, sofa and fridge, while the second floor is the bedroom. In the loft gallery room, one can explore over the spacious two floors. Stay grounded in the bedroom area and venture upstairs when it’s time to play (or work). The ultimate choice for the multi-taskers and those who like to keep things interesting. The design is very elegant and with the larger glass windows, it offers a nice view of the downtown area. Unfortunately when we stayed there in January, it was raining everyday so the weather was gloomy. The only redemption was that the weather was really cool, around 22 degrees and wearing a cardigan while walking on the streets outside made it feel like we were in a cool temperate country.
The location of M Social is really good too, situated near Robertson Quay with several dining options and those who are looking for a more vibrant nightlife, talk a stroll down to Clarke Quay, about 20 minutes for the scenic walk. Chinatown is also just a stone’s throw away for those who want to explore the Chinese heritage of Singapore. The shops of Orchard Road are just eight minutes away by cab. The nearest mall, Great World City shopping mall, is just five minutes by cab and the Central Business District is close by, about 10 to 15 minutes by car. On the downside, there is no MRT access in the hotel’s vicinity.
Lastly, the amenities were top notch, with an outdoor pool for the water loungers, shuttle bus for the traveling nomads, fitness corner for the active champions and Beast & Butterflies restaurant for the food connoisseur. The check-in area is fuss-free and the staff were quick to direct us to the correct counter. The white counters provide a whitewashed feel and there was also a water dispenser for the thirsty traveller while waiting for his/her turn to check in. I would have enjoyed more of the pool if not for the rain, but I managed to take a dip in the pool where the waters were quite cold due to the rainy weather.
