Entrance to the resort

Domaine des Alizées Club & Spa is a 10-minute drive from the centre of Grand Baie village. Pereybere beach is a 5-minute drive away. A scheduled shuttle service runs daily to Grand Baie and to an exclusive beach. From the airport, it is about 45 minutes by car or taxi to the Grand Baie area. We did not take the public transport during in stay in Mauritius, so we are unable to advise on what public buses serve the area. Anyway, public transport is not so reliable in Mauritius and I would suggest renting a car if you have a driving license.

*According to online info, take bus 198 from SSR International Airport to Port Louis (Deschart Street). Then walk to Port Louis (Immigration Square) to change to bus 215 which goes in the direction of Grande Baie.

These individual huts serve as private dining areas.

The restaurant is built on water and offers cuisine with a European, Indian and Chinese influence.

Our room was decorated as we were on honeymoon.

Each air-conditioned apartment features a kitchenette with a microwave, stove and a refrigerator. It includes a dining area and lounge with a flat-screen TV. The private bathroom has a bath and a shower.

Welcome drinks – passionfruit juice.

The staff at the resort were very nice. In the morning, we even had the housekeeper to come over to our apartment to cook breakfast for us. She also cleaned our house, removing all the sand from the beach and even arranging the stuff neatly. We were pampered by having a chef in the house even though breakfast was quite easy to prepare, such as fried eggs, sausages and toasted bread. We did not opt for dinner because the menu was fixed and both of us would have to choose the same thing for dinner. Instead, we drove out to nearby eateries for dinner.

Bathtub and enjoying the free champagne while having a soak.

Having a bathtub in the apartment is very relaxing. At night, after a long day out exploring, we just wanted to rest. The bathtub was big enough to fit two and we could even enjoy our champagne. The TV was also swivelled to face us so we could watch some TV programmes.

The other bedroom which is for kids and has two single beds.

Opened in 2013, Domaine des Alizees features various suites of 1 and 2 bedrooms as well as penthouses of 3 bedrooms with private plunge pool. The apartment that we had was a 2 bedroom and it was really spacious. There was a balcony for us to hang our clothes. There is also a parking lot right in front of the house.

Checking out the spa.

Domaine des Alizées features a spa and a fitness room. Guests can lounge beside the swimming pool and a sunbed. Water sports can be arranged by the hotel staff. The spa facilities include

  • Four Single Cabins
  • Two Double Cabins
  • One Scrub Cabin
  • One Sauna
  • One Hammam
  • One Cold Jacuzzi
  • Relaxing Area
  • Rest Area
Interior of the spa area with a swimming pool.

The name of the spa is Le Spa 5 sens. It offers a variety of massages, including oil, aromatherapy, Ayurvedic, Mauritian etc. We were given two different soap bars to choose from, one was sea salt and the other was green tea. Next, we changed to our bathing robes and went into the rooms for our massage. The massage was so relaxing that I fell asleep.

These rooms are for private massage and there is also a sauna / hammam for people to relax after the massage.

After the spa, we had about 10 minutes left for the spa. As the spa resort closes at 7pm, you should head there early. We were the last few customers for the day. After using the hammam which is the steam room and the sauna, we washed up before heading out for dinner.

  • If your treatment time is 17:00, it is recommended you arrive at 16:40 to fully enjoy the Sauna
  • Benefits: Sauna will warm up the muscles, providing a more effective treatment as the body is already prepared and loosened, ready for treatment.
Alizee’s private beach, owned by Evaco holidays. We could use the facilities for free by showing our hotel card.

The private beach club was amazing! It definitely enhanced our stay in Mauritius, but too bad we only discovered it on the last day! We made full use of it by lazing at the beach and going for a turtle swimming boat trip. Waiters on call, exclusive sandy beach! It was great! There were many tables and deck chairs where you can place your belongings within sight and go for a swim at the beach.

The beach just outside the beach club, with clear turquoise waters.

The waters were cold as it was winter time. We took some time to get used to the low temperature and after that, just soaked in the ocean, hearing the sound of waves and spotting birds flying in the horizon. Since it was the low season, we kind of had the beach to ourselves and it feels awesome.

Overall, we had an enjoyable stay at Domaine des Alizees Club and Spa. We would definitely come back here again because the service is impeccable and the prices are reasonable.
