Under the Bed & Breakfast Package at Carlton, you can enjoy a 1-Night Stay in a Deluxe Room or Executive Room of your choice inclusive of breakfast for 2 person(s). We also made use of the $100 Singapore Rediscover voucher to book this package.
Strategically located along Bras Basah Road, Carlton Hotel Singapore is within walking distance to convention centres, historical landmarks, museums, shopping areas and the entertainment belt.
Check-in was a breeze at the hotel. The queues were quite short and we only waited about 10 minutes. As you can see from the picture, there were a few people who booked the hotel to celebrate a birthday. While waiting for other groups of friends or the main party to check in, you can rest and relax on the sofas around the lobby.
Upon check in, we were upgraded to a premium room, on a high floor. We were allocated to Room 1471, with a view of the city, where we can see Marina Bay, Raffles City and Suntec City. The room is quite spacious and the surrounding views are amazing.
The hotel bathtub was placed in the bathroom, with the blinds on the outside. You can adjust it to watch tv as the bathroom also has speakers installed.
Taking a selfie in the bathroom.
This is the view of the room from another angle. For business travellers, they can work at the office desk provided. There are 3 charging points which is sufficient for your devices. There is also a Nespresso machine to make coffee and some tea bags provided. While other 5-star hotels provide TWG tea bags, Carlton only provides Lipton tea which is slightly disappointing.
Carlton Hotel is really convenient to the nearby shopping malls, only a short 5 minute walk to Raffles City. While Carlton Hotel has 21 storeys, we can have a clear view of Raffles Hotel and its swimming pool. Due to the colonial design of Raffles Hotel which is being preserved, it is much shorter in height.
Carlton Hotel Singapore has been awarded the SG Clean quality mark by fulfilling the strict requirements of stringent sanitisation and hygiene practices, mandatory temperature checks, complying with health and travel advisories and more. In the room, there were anti-bacterial wet wipes and the TV remote has also been sanitised, and wrapped in a plastic packaging.
There is a small red armchair and some paintings in the room. It is a nice place to relax at this corner, while admiring the city views or the sunset or just to watch TV. Overall, the room was clean and comfortable. It had the basic amenities that we needed and a simple bathtub for relaxing.
The swimming pool at Carlton was very small, I would rather swim at my condo than at this pool. All the pool slots were fully booked during our stay there. Only 10 people are allowed to enter the pool at any one time. The earliest time we got was 1pm but by then, it was past our checkout time. So I only went to the swimming pool area, located on the 5th floor, to take some photos.
As for the breakfast package, it was included in the room booking. Breakfast is served at Cafe Mosaic from 7.00am to 10.30am. To place an order, we had to tell the staff what we wanted after scanning the QR code menu on the table. We went for the American breakfast, with omelette as the choice of egg. While this is like a buffet, where you can order unlimited servings, most people only ordered one main course for the breakfast set. The staff also served us some Danish pastries on the side. Toast can be ordered separately to go with your breakfast set. Both of us really enjoyed the omelette even though there were no ingredients inside.
Accoriding to the hotel, Café Mosaic will be temporarily closed till 29 April 2021. Breakfast will continue to be served from 7.00am to 10.30am at Executive Club Lounge, Main Tower (Level 4).
Overall, it was a short but enjoyable stay at Carlton. We enjoyed its prime location to City Hall and also the city views from our room. For dinner, we walked over to Raffles City and also spent some time window shopping. Room service was slow, I ordered some ice and 2 wine glasses at 10pm because I wanted to pour out some wine, but the glasses were never delivered. In the end, we had to use the glass cups provided for brushing our teeth. It was also inconvenient to get to the breakfast venue because from our tower, we had to go down to the lobby and transfer to another lift to go to the 4th floor. In terms of the plus points, we were glad with the complimentary upgrade, the high floor and the late checkout at 1pm.
