Opus Bar and Grill is the in-house restaurant for Hilton hotel, located on the first floor. It is also open to walk-in customers for lunch and dinner. During our staycation at the Hilton hotel, we had breakfast for both days at Opus.
Breakfast at Hilton is quite a typical hotel breakfast. It used to be a buffet style in the past, but due to covid and hygiene reasons, it is now an ala carte buffet where you order the dishes and the waitress would serve it to your table. You can choose between Breakfast at Hilton (American style), Healthy breakfast (Continental style) or Asian breakfast.
On the first day, we had the Breakfast at Hilton and also the Mee goreng as an add on. The Mee goreng was served with a basket of steamed chicken siew mai and shrimp dumpling. The noodles were disappointing as it did not have any spice, it was just fried in black sauce. The Breakfast at Hilton was decent, with fruit juice, corn flakes, Danish pastry, ham and cheese omelette and a selection of fruits.
On the second day, we had almost the same kind of breakfast, except that the eggs were scrambled this time. The bacon was not too salty. Instead of mee goreng, we tried the fish congee. It had condiments such as spring onion and shallot by the side, so it is useful for those who do not like such additional items in their porridge.
There are two things that matter when you are considering the humble steak, and that’s the meat and the grill. While seasonings and sauces have their place, these two essentials go the longest way in ensuring a perfectly juicy, endlessly flavourful cut from pasture to plate. This is the philosophy of Opus Grill, the stunning new, mahogany clad steakhouse at Hilton Singapore. Featuring an impressive dining room with handsome furnishings, it has the feel of a solid modern grill experience long before you get a peek at the well-curated menu of grill basics.
Even though we did not have the chance to have dinner at Opus as the restaurant was fully booked on Saturday, we decided to have lunch on the last day after our checkout, in order to use the $80 credits given to us.
Opus has an attractive 2-course lunch at $18++ on weekdays. It consists of one appetizer and one main course/ main course and dessert. However, the main courses are simple fares such as club sandwich, tandoori wrap, pomodoro basil pasta, nasi goreng kampung or chicken rice.
Since it was Sunday, we could only order from the ala carte menu. We had a wagyu beef ragout ($28), with a choice of linguine as pasta. The beef was cooked to perfection, with juices sealed inside, as we know that Opus is one of the top 10 steak restaurants in Singapore.
On the other hand, I had the Chargrilled Australian tenderloin ($62), medium. It was served with mashed potatoes, asparagus, baby carrots and peppercorn sauce. Even though the steak was supposedly medium, but it tasted more like medium well. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed it because it was not overcooked, and the meat had a delicious grilled exterior. The plating of the dish was also done very nicely.
In a bid to entice walk-in diners, Opus is currently having a dinner promotion.
Opus’ premium sharing steaks are dramatic, bone-in-showstoppers that showcase a variety of textures and flavours, and serves 2 persons. Try the best-seller 1.2kg Australian Whiskey-aged Rangers Valley Wagyu Tomahawk from $158++. There is a also a “steak-cation package” which includes this Wagyu tomahawk and a one-night stay, starting from $265++ per night. It is a really good deal as you get to enjoy the food at Opus and also staying at a hotel. Since we all can’t travel, why not spend in Singapore to boost the economy.
Top up the Opus Sharing Steak Experience with the best wine deals:
- 2-hour free flow wine at $15++ per person (Sun – Thu). Max 2 diners.
- 50% off selected wine by the bottle ( Fri & Sat)
To be honest, the above promotion does not appeal to me because I had already stayed two nights at Hilton. I look forward to trying other steakhouses in the area, perhaps Bedrock next as I have heard positive reviews about it.
