The Courtyard is well known for its afternoon tea sets. As part of our dining credits, we decided to have the afternoon tea delivered to our room so that we can enjoy it in the comfort of our room while watching TV. During the time we stayed at Fullerton Hotel, it was also possible to dine in at the restaurant, up to 2 persons per group.
The staff came promptly at 4pm to deliver the high tea set to our room. It came in a silverware set of three tiers, all of which looks so mouth-watering.
Starting with the sweet stuff first, we had Fraise macarons, Framboise custard choux, Tarte au chocolat caramel (chocolate caramel tart), lemon financier and a slice of Coffee Opera. The tarts and macarons with berry were not too sour, which met our standards. Macarons have always been my favourite and it is a must to buy them in Paris, especially at Laduree or Pierre Hermes whenever I am in the city.
The savoury items include:
🌟 Dill-marinated salmon tartare, salmon roe served on mini choux
🌟 Tiger prawn mini eclair, boursin cheese
🌟 Sainte maure de Touraine cheese, caramelised onion, crisp bayonne ham
🌟 Classic duck rillettes, pistachio, dill pickles, mini bagel
🌟 Layered telegraphy cucumber tomato, dill cream cheese and wholemeal bread
🌟 Truffle egg chives mayonnaise, spinach bread
Over here, we had another of the choux pastry, but this time it is filled with smoked salmon. We also had a tartlet which crumbles in your mouth and topped with caramelised onions done to perfection. The tiger prawns had a savoury taste and when paired with the eclair, it somehow gives a different taste to the picture.
As a staple for any afternoon tea set, scones are a must. The Courtyard does impressive buttery scones, one plain and one with raisins. The jam and clotted cream provided some flavours to the scones and the jam was not too sweet.
It was an enjoyable afternoon that brought us back to Paris with the little treats. This dainty French-themed set will transport you to the romantic City of Lights. Pair it with coffee, tea or even a bottle of champagne for a splendid tea time experience. Being in the room allowed us to enjoy the air con and also the TV programmes which we could change at will. As our room was on the second floor, it even had a balcony that featured an open courtyard. I toyed with the idea of having our high tea in the balcony, but due to the hot weather, we decided to have in the room instead. It was well worth to skip lunch and save our stomach space for the high tea, it was an unforgettable afternoon.
For the month of August, The Courtyard is serving an afternoon tea set with a National Day theme. Be prepared to try various local pastries and desserts.
