Recommendations for Krabi

Stay
Blanco Room & Apartments | 228 Moo 2, Ao Nang, Krabi, Thailand 81000

We stayed at Blanco Room & Apartments, which is about 20 minute on foot to Aonang beach. We liked the area because it is not so touristy, there is a Tesco supermarket opposite, 7-eleven and roadside food stalls. You won’t go hungry. Along the way to Aonang beach, there would be touristy restaurants offering the gamut of international and Thai cuisine. The further away from Aonang beach, the cheaper is the food.
The room was clean, spacious and comes with a bar fridge. We did not use the fridge in the end because drinking at the bar was quite affordable.

Eat
May & Zin | Nopparat Thara Beach, Ao Nang, Krabi Town 81000, Thailand

May & Zin, rated the number three restaurant in Krabi, I was slightly skeptical of the review at first. I changed my opinions after tasting the food. It was awesome and I would like to recommend it. Average price per dish is 100B. We ordered tom yum soup, green curry chicken and soft shell crab with yellow curry. We were so hungry that we devoured all the food within minutes. Due to its popularity, the wait time for the food is 20-30 minutes. The food is halal so our Muslim friends can also enjoy it. We spent 390B (~$16) for two people, with three dishes and 2 plates of rice.

green curry, tom yum soup
highly recommended soft shell crab with yellow curry

Drink
Aonang’s nightlife scene is not as awesome as compared to Pattaya, Phuket or Bangkok, but it offers enough options to satisfy most partygoers and night owls.
One of my favourites is Coconut Bar with a live band every night. This bar is situated inside a small alley off the main road facing Aonang Beach. They play mainly reggae songs and while we dedicated songs like Maroon5, Taylor Swift or Adele, they only sang “Rolling in the deep” by Adele. I guess these artistes are not their style to sing along with.
The drinks at this bar are affordable, 200B ($8) for a bucket (hard liquor and a mixer), or 100B ($4) for certain cocktails or a big bottle of Thai beer. We spent two consecutive nights here.

Another bar to check out is the Colombian bar – Roots Rock Reggae Bar . They had a live band performing as well and a fire show done outside the bar. Drinks here were more pricey, but it had a good ambiance.
