Pigsfly is a casual dining venue where people come together for the love of food and beer. They serve a variety of cuisines including Gourmet Burgers, Pizzas, Seafood, Northern Indian and traditional Thai favourites and a bar full of 50+ artisanal beer.
The place was packed on a Friday night. Luckily, we manage to snag a table for two without reservation. We had went to Katong Village to take at a look at the food options there, but nothing seemed enticing so we crossed the road and came across Pigsfly.
I had passed by this place several times before but did not get to dine in here. Looking at the open concept and the variety of artisanal beer, this seems like my favourite place. For starters, we ordered two pints of Australian Hahn Super Dry beer, at the happy hour price of $8.50 before 8.30pm. They have generous happy hours from 11am till 8.30pm daily. Besides beer on tap, they also have a wide variety of cider, premium bottled beer, wines, whiskey, vodka and other beverages.
The food section is made up of an amalgam of La Pizza, La Salad, tiffin (North Indian cuisine) and Blue Elephant (Thai cuisine). Instead of ordering at the individual stalls, the order is taken at the central cashier and it is then sent to the respective kitchens. This ensures that the chefs can focus on preparing the meals and not worry about collecting money. I ordered the butter chicken and garlic naan set ($14) from tiffin. I had not eaten butter chicken for a long time, so this was a real treat. The garlic naan was fragrant and there was also a slice of pappadam. Not wanting to eat rice, I changed the carbs to an extra piece of naan.
The other main course that we ordered is a Hawaiian Pizza from La Pizza, the Italian kitchen. 9 inch pizza at $16 and 12 inch pizza at $20. We were disappointed with the pizza unfortunately because the supposedly “hand-made thin crust” was not crispy and not well-baked. The ingredients were lacklustre compared to the flavourful butter chicken dish. We did not finish the pizza in the end.
Based on other online reviews, the Thai food at Pigsfly is also commendable. It seems like their pizzas are not up to standard. I suggest that you take a bus down the street to Al Forno’s for some traditional oven-baked thin-crust pizzas.
Overall, Pigsfly bar is a great place to chill over dinner and drinks. If coming on the weekend, do come early to get seats as the place does not accept reservations. If you like noisy places with football screening or some loud music blasting, this is the place to spend time with your friends. Do take note that due to Phase 2 safe management measures, no more alcohol is served beyond 10.30pm.
