Saveur had a special Valentine’s Day set so we decided to go there to celebrate VDay. Morever, I had been to Saveur before and I was impressed with their quality of food. The cuisine is French and has never failed to disappoint. The Saveur @ Purvis street is located in between Bugis and City Hall MRT, it takes about 10 minutes walk from the station to reach.
They have three outlets – at Bugis, Orchard and Dhoby Ghaut.
For the Valentine’s Day set, one can order an appetiser, main course, followed by a dessert for a price of $36.90++. Certain dishes such as steak had to add on $6.
The lobster bisque soup came in a general portion and the servings of lobster were quite generous. I am not sure whether it’s real lobster or not, but the soup tasted good.
Next came the main course. The girl had steak while I had the duck confit. The duck confit is my favourite French food and I always order it at a French restaurant. The duck was tender and not dry, paired well with mashed potatoes by the side and three slices of mandarin orange.
The steak was medium well and it was also sumptuous. It was seared well on all sides and the insides slightly red. The meat was juicy and cooked to perfection.
For dessert, both of us had the dark chocolate fondant. The chocolate fondant was not too sweet and there was a scoop of vanilla ice cream to go with it. If only the fondant chocolate would ooze out like a lava cake, then it would have been more satisfying. Nevertheless, we left with satisfied tummies after the three-course meal. It was value for money because of the set meal. We added the ala carte prices and it came up to about the same price for the set menu. On other days, they also have a set dinner menu for $29.90++ but there was no lobster bisque soup option.
Will we come back again? Yes!
