Booking a VTL flight

Itching to travel but have not planned your trip yet? This blog post will guide you on how to book your next Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) flight and escape the dull life in Singapore.

For now, we have a choice of 11 destinations to fly to, where we can return to Singapore without quarantine. These include Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, United Kingdom, Canada, United States, South Korea and Brunei. However, the last country, Brunei is not open to tourists at the moment.

From Singapore, you can take any flight to any of these 11 countries. However, do note that if your trip is less than 14 days and if you transit in any of the countries outside this special lane, you would still need to do a quarantine upon arrival back in Singapore. For example, if going to London for 10 days, and you flew with Emirates which has a stopover in Dubai, this does not qualify you for the VTL. You would be able to fly with Singapore Airlines, Air France, KLM, British Airways, Korean Air as these flights have a stopover in a VTL country.

Travelling to multiple VTL countries within the same trip is allowed. Travellers will be required to show proof of Covid-19 vaccination and take two Covid-19 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests when flying into Singapore. Short-term visitors and Long-Term Pass holders need to apply for a Vaccinated Travel Pass (VTP) to board the VTL flights to Singapore, which can be done online.

Most VTL countries provide quarantine and test-free entry to vaccinated travellers from Singapore. The exceptions are:

  • Brunei: Quarantine and testing are both required.
  • Italy: A pre-departure PCR test or Antigen Rapid Test (ART) taken 72 hours prior to the flight.
  • South Korea: A pre-departure PCR test taken 72 hours prior to the flight.
  • The UK: A post-arrival PCR test on Day 2 (requires pre-booking).
  • The USA: A pre-departure test to be taken 72 hours prior to the flight. Tests accepted include: Antigen, NAAT, RT-LAMP, RT-PCR or TMA.

There may also be entry restrictions by the VTL countries based on your travel history prior to departure, Please check our travel advisories to confirm. Residents of Singapore who have been in SIngapore for more than 14 days are not impacted.

You may also be required to provide a vaccination certificate upon arrival. For vaccinated travellers planning to fly to South Korea, your vaccination certificate must be issued in Singapore or South Korea.

To facilitate verification by the relevant authorities, travellers from Singapore may use Notarise to digitally authenticate and endorse the pre-departure test and/or vaccination certificates.

Additionally, vaccinated travellers from Singapore can visit South Korea quarantine-free starting 15 November 2021.

Transit passengers

Passengers transiting in Singapore will be eligible for VTL flights, if they meet the VTL vaccination and pre-departure test requirements.

VTL flight schedule

This is the list of VTL flights that are available for selection. If you are looking to travel during the December holidays, do note that most of the VTL flights are almost full or snapped up, so be prepared to pay a premium. The most important thing when planning your trip is to secure the VTL flight back to Singapore first, if not you would be doing a stay-home-notice of around 7 days if you come back on a non-VTL flight. Certain countries only have a limited operating schedule of VTL flights, which makes it even harder to book a seat.
