I have been to Piedra Negra several times but I have not gotten down to write an article about it, so here is my review on this Mexican restaurant.

Delicious Mexican cuisine at a wallet-friendly price: Tough to find a good Mexican restaurant in Singapore without paying a whopping price? Not anymore. At Peidra Negra you can enjoy delicious, authentic Mexican specialties – Beef and Chicken Burritos, Flauto Tacos, Guacamole with chips, Beef Alambre and Ceviches – at quite a reasonable price.

We had a spread of dishes, as seen on the table. For starters, we ordered the Guacamole ($10.90) that was freshly prepared at our table and served with tortilla chips. The avocadoes were pounded right in front of us, followed by the addition of sauces and tomatoes.

For mains, I had the Burritos with Beef ($14.90) that was flour tortillas wrapped with pulled beef, bean sauce, jalapenos, rice, cheese and lettuce. With the rice and tortilla, it was quite filling already, plus there were extra carbs such as fries. It was a filling dish. During my time in Mexico, I also had similar meals like this. I like how the pulled beef was well marinated and tender.

This was the quesadilla with beef ($13.90) which is similar to the burrito wrap that I ordered. The quesadilla comes in a flat tortilla wrap served with pico de gallo. The spicy sauce that came with the dish went well with the wrap.

For something more of a Western choice, there are main courses such as this Chicken Alambre ($16.90). The chicken was sautéed and topped with melted cheese. There was also tortilla flour and salad.

One of the signature drinks in Mexico is margarita. Of course at Piedra Negra, we had our worth of frozen margaritas to quench our thirst. Happy hour is until 8pm daily, so you can have 2 of them for $24.

Overall, we had delicious Mexican food for dinner and it was a great catch up session with friends. Since my last visit to this place, the restaurant has expanded and there is a larger seating area. If you prefer al fresco dining, there are also outdoor seats while you enjoy your food and drinks.

What gives Piedra Negra special and a hit with customers is the made-at-your-table fresh guacamole, yummy margaritas and its vibrant, buzzing atmosphere.

After dinner, we took a walk down Haji Lane to admire some of the quirky shops and artwork. Despite the sluggish recovery from covid, it was great to see people dining out and enjoying some fresh air.
