Hong Kong day 1

The first day of our much-awaited trip. I woke up early because we must be at the airport at 615am, two hours before our flight departs. Anyway Caven and Weijie were already there waiting for me when I reached. In the end our flight was delayed by half an hour because the plane arrived late and they needed to clean it. So we cleared customs and went to burger king for breakfast. Changi is real cool, do you know that there are electrical charging station for any kind of handphone or apple product? I charged my ipod in the mini locker there, taking the key with me and returning about half an hour later to retrive it. There was also free internet kiosks for travellers who need to surf the net urgently or to pass time playing games at the xbox station.

After a 3 and a half hours flight, we finally reached Hong Kong, the pearl of the orient. We collected our baggage and there was someone from the Hong Kong tour agency to pick us up. We waited for other travellers on other flights to reach, then we were shuttled to Disneyland Hollywood hotel. Upon arrival, we realised we had a 2 day Disneyland pass ticket, so we could enjoy the fireworks tonight and try to cover the whole theme park by tomorrow evening. Check-in was only at 3pm, but we did registration first and had a light lunch at the cafe. Being impatient, we went to the counter to ask for the keys around 245pm and it was ready.
The room was nice and cozy, with many mickey minnie adorations on the wall. We unpacked and washed up before taking the shuttle bus to the disneyland park. It was quite a distance away from the hotel, so as you can imagine we had no nice scenery from our hotel room. The weather was chilly and I liked the temperature in Hong Kong. I love winter, especially if there is snow. I brought them to Citigates, a factory outlet shopping centre in Tung Chung on Lantau island. We bought our octopus cards which allowed us to travel on the MTR, bus, ferry and tram seamlessly. There were many branded goods stores at Citigates, but the type of prices and items sold there were not attractive to me. Even the nike and adidas prices were comparable to that of Singapore, so I did not see the point in purchasing them here. Weijie bought a pair of crocs from the shop here. As for the branded goods, they were heavily discounted but there were some defects in the products, so some people may not be willing to buy because they rather pay more for quality.
After some shopping, we went to cafe de coral for an average dinner. Then we headed back to disneyland for some photos and the fireworks which start at 9pm. It was raining slightly and the jacket came in useful. We took many pictures from the entrance, the fountain to the rides such as “it’s a small world” which was specially modeled for Christmas, Teacup, Carousel, Autopia, Space Mountain etc. It was surprisingly empty and we even had the chance to take some rides twice. I like space mountain alot because it is an indoor roller coaster with sharp turns and I love the adrenaline rush. We caught the fireworks from tomorrowland after taking the last ride Autopia. It was such a pity that we were blocked by trees, anyway most of the crowd were on main street usa or near the sleeping beauty castle. We left after the fireworks and many people slowly streamed out of the park, either to the MTR station or for the shuttle bus back to the hotel.
